EPICentre is a pioneering visualisation facility that builds on decades of UNSW expertise in the design of interactive virtual environments and applications. It forges new territory in integrated thinking (artistic and scientific) to accelerate human understanding of complex datasets and ultra-scale imagery. Incorporating an array interactive 3D environments the EPICentre enables scientists to simulate experiences such as dementia, psychosis, memory loss and other neurological conditions, providing both researchers and the public with a powerful way of understanding the experience of sufferers, through immersion in the condition. EPICentre allows, cross-connecting visualisation with applied computational simulation science, artificial intelligence, and creativity in arts and science. It also hosts modern Mixed Reality lab (XR-LAB), where visualisations are being deployed across VR, AR, hemispherical projections and upcoming multi-touch walls.
UNSW has developed ultra-high resolution, immersive visualisation environments. EPIC’s unmatched multidisciplinary expertise and array of visualisation environments enhance our capacity to do research and illuminate our understanding of rich applications of big data to accelerate scientific discoveries across field.

DomeLab is a six metre diameter 3D hemispheric projection environment (Fulldome). DomeLab is a UNSW-led Australian Research Council funded project with collaborators across 11 organisations in Australia. The system is designed to travel both nationally and internationally.
XR-Lab consists of several hardware solutions that allow the development and delivery of fully featured collaborative Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications. This lab also hosts a 3m hemispherical dome and multiple interaction devices such as: Emotive EEG, Microsoft Kinect 2, 360-degree cameras, laser projector, various gesture cameras, a large set of IoT sensors communicating though networked embedded systems, and upcoming multi-touch wall.
AVIE-SC consists of a 160-degree cylindrical screen driven by two 3D projectors. The lab also includes a motion capture system.
